A Day in Dublin

Had a great breakfast, took a walk, and caught an open bus ride around Dublin which was good. A student at Trinity College took us for a tour around the grounds before we spent some time trying to view the Book of Kells. The library is amazing with thousands of books arranged in order of size! I smelt them all before I saw them. We took a wander through St Patrick’s Cathedral which is just a little bigger than St Pats in Howard and finished off the day with a dinner interspersed with storytelling about the folklore of the Irish at an old pub, The Brazen Head. A bit of music thrown in with a couple of pints made it a good night. We sat next to an Gold Coast couple in their 20’s who were on a 12 month world tour. He had bought a Tarago in London, tossed the seats, made a bed and hit the track.

Wally in yellow

Sharon has Wally with her again for shots of his adventures for her class. One of my favourites is him in his yellow jersey as the riders go past our vantage point on the Champs Elysees. He did enjoy the moment as you can see from the smile on his face!

Dublin

The biggest news today is I have not taken a photo. I’m surprised it’s not also on the front page of the Dublin dailies. Evans winning the tour made the first paragraph of the fifth back page of The Times. The rest was about Cavendish. A day of travel today to Dublin then a history, sporting, literary, musical and economic lesson of Dublin from a friendly taxi driver to our B & B. Ariel House is great. Grand, smart and cheap. It’s in Lansdowne Road, home to rugby in Ireland, and not far from the city’s Dart train service. It feels like home. Will hit the town tomorrow. No photos means I have to put another one from Le Tour. vans in yellow! Sharon has a green hand in her bag courtesy of the Belgians.
