Sherborne

Jo’s mum took us on a tour of Sherborne, where her husband worked, the fields named in his honour and to the castle, which has lovely grounds. “It’s a ghastly building,” she said. We had fun in Sherborne. Stonehenge was on the route so we pulled in for a quick look. Impressive. We stayed at Windsor, not the castle, and walked, in the dark, down a country lane to a pub for dinner. The glow of the  London lights were in the distance. I’m not sure of prospects for internet for the next week while we are in London so this blog might be a bit irregular in that time. See you all soon.

  1. Enjoy London. A few Aussie style cafe’s with good coffee reported in the Herald this week.
Lantana 13 Charlotte Place Fitzrovia, Kaffeine 66 Great Titchfield St Fitzrovia
Flat White 17 Berwick St Soho. A few things off the top of my head to maybe see. The National Portrait Gallery just off Tralfalga Sq, Somerset House between The Strand and Victoria Embankment,Borough Market at London Bridge Tube we had lunch there on a Friday and you can walk back towards the London Eye along the Thames. The Globe Theatre is near there. A trip up the river to Greenwich past all the old dock areas and regenerated areas. Then Greenwich is worthwhile as well.
Then there is Marylebone High St my old stamping ground. Very trendy now but a nice wander along and so much better than touristy Oxford St. The Wallace Collection in Manchester Square is intresting and Rick and I met at 50 Manchester St. I’m sure you hunt out some good experiences. Look foward to hearing about it all and can imagine maybe you’re both thinking about home and staying in one place for a while. Bye Love Diane and Rick

  2. Funny you mention Lantana Di, thats where i will be working very soon. I have a friend who i used to work with at Gunshop who is currently working at Lantana and he has offered me a job and his couch to sleep on. So i’m headed off to London in early November. I’ve already told mum and dad to go in and check it out for me.

  3. Looks like Tom is going to be busy at his new work place.

    Travel safely home.
Looking forward to Sam’s wedding, just warning you both that we have 7 of our eight G’kids attending. Unfortunately Jerrome will be in Sydney with the Army/Navy.
